I want to LIVE!

This past weekend turned to be sort of a wake-up call for many of us. The message was simple, but painfully honest. The response was almost overwhelming as person after person began to express how desperately their hearts were crying out to live like never before. (If you missed the sermon, get it here)
As one person emailed me, “Too often we allow ourselves to get caught up in the day-to-day busyness of living and not deeply following the path God desires for us.” We were created with a passion to live, not a passion to be busy. God is inviting us, the people of Covenant Church, to embark on this wild adventure and journey with Him. It is not about becoming busy for Him – the invitation is to know Him and His Son, and in knowing them, we will be like them, see others like them, love like them and live like them. To truly live is to be sustained by the character of God. For some of us, that’s spending more intentional time in His presence. For others, it’s getting outside of the walls of our comfort zone to embrace life-on-life with someone that’s not like us.
So what about you? Will you share with others on this blog what you’re changing about your life in light of wanting to LIVE? How will your life be different? What does “intentionally following Jesus …” look like for you in this leg of your journey with Him? Encourage the rest of us with your story…

I'm currently reading a book called "Posers, Fakers, and Wannabes" by Brennan Manning. His intent in writing this is to encourage us just let go of what the world, "the Poser" in us says we have to be and really just live fully into who we are in God.
"Accepting the reality of my brokenness means accepting my authentic self. Judas and Peter both betrayed Jesus. Judas could not face his shadow. Peter could. Peter's life changed; Judas ended his life…Each man decided he couldn't go on living that way."
I don't want to get caught in that trap of thinking that I can just "pose" my way through life thereby cutting myself off from a true, authentic relationship with my Lord. I want to face my shadow and own up to my complacency because I've realized that I too have been calling God a liar and I am truly heartbroken. I want my life to change. I want to look more like Him. I want to LIVE!!!!!!

My husband and I sat in the car after service Sunday in a minute of stunned silence–thinking WOW we are "those" people. Those people too caught up in us, what we want, what we are doing–how busy we are, how tired we are. We have been incredibly blessed and incredibly selfish. We are commited to refocusing our lives back on Jesus and away from ourselves. You'll be seeing more of us Covenant as we get involved–begin serving and start living the true life.
